Since 1991, CUMIS has invited local community groups and organizations onto its 15-acre orchard each autumn to pick apples for distribution at food banks, community meal kitchens, church pie sales and school nutrition programs.

A variety of cooking and eating apples - Empire, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, Mutsu, Red Delicious and Spy - from the organization's 500 apple trees are made available.

This event also gives CUMIS employees the chance to volunteer their time to help make the event a success and support their community.

Up to 1,000 boxes of apples are picked and donated each Apple Day.
