Information Collection and Use

In this document “you” and “your” refer to person(s) using the information and tools on this website.  By using this website you accept the terms of use detailed below.  If you do not agree please exit this site immediately.

CUMIS currently does not collect any data input into this site, with the exception of information required to contact you, as provided by you, if you request a referral.  The information collected in each field of the planning tools is for calculation purposes only.  Personal information is not collected, used or disclosed in any manner, except for the purposes of the calculations on this site.  You have the option of directing the results of your calculations on to an advisor, at your sole discretion.  All information practices shall comply with applicable federal and provincial laws, as and where applicable.

Referral Process

If you choose the referral option, which is available at several different points on this web site, you’ll need to provide your contact information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the services on our site for which you have expressed interest. The information provided will be used for contact purposes only and will only be provided to employees of CUMIS and/or your credit union for that sole purpose.

This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that CUMIS is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information.  Also bear in mind that we make no representations or warranties about any site linked to our web pages, nor do we accept any claim for liability or damages flowing from the use of those sites or your choice to provide personal information on those sites

Surveys & Contests

From time-to-time our site requests information from you via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as postal code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.  As you would expect, these surveys are a tool we use to enhance this service to you, but you are under no obligation to take part in the survey.  If you do take part, we’ll only make use of the information you insert in a generic manner that will not identify you, unless of course we use the contact info to send you a prize.

CUMIS is not responsible for and will not be liable to you or anyone else for damages resulting from interception, loss or alteration in connection with an e-mail sent by you to CUMIS or an e-mail sent by CUMIS to you.

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our home page so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you by way of an email. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected and will always adhere to our Privacy Code (below).

 

CUMIS Privacy Code

Principle 1 - Accountability

Each employee or agent of the CUMIS Group of Companies is responsible for personal information under his or her control and each company has designated an individual to be accountable for compliance with this Code.

 

Principle 2 - Identifying Purposes

The purposes for which personal information is collected will be identified before or at the time the information is collected.

The prior knowledge and permission of the individual are required for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information, except for legal or security reasons.

 

Principle 4 - Limiting Collection

The collection of personal information will be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified. Personal information will always be collected by fair and lawful means.

 

Principle 5 - Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

Personal information will not be used, disclosed or retained for purposes other than those for which the information was collected, except with the permission of the individual, or as permitted or required by law.

Principle 6 – Accuracy
