CUMIS donates $5,000 to help drive away hunger in Halton

December 10, 2009 – Burlington, ON – The CUMIS Group Limited (CUMIS) presented Mayor Cam Jackson, Chair of the Burlington Food Share, with a cheque for $5,000 to help alleviate hunger in Halton this holiday season.

“CUMIS wants to help stock our community’s shelves with items for which they are in the greatest need,” says Kenn Lalonde, President and CEO, The CUMIS Group Limited. “We hope our support of the Burlington Food Share will allow more families in Halton to enjoy a meal together during what can be a challenging time of year for the less fortunate.”

The cheque presentation caps off CUMIS’ annual food drive, which also brought in a large collection of non-perishable food items to help meet the needs of the more than 500 food bank users in Burlington this holiday season.

“As the Chair of Burlington Food Share, thank you to The CUMIS Group Limited for their ongoing commitment to helping the children and families in our community who struggle from day to day to acquire the basic necessities of life,” said Mayor Jackson. “At this time of year it is even more important for us to remember our own fortune and demonstrate thankfulness by reaching out to those who are most vulnerable in our community.”
