CUMIS continues its commitment to ‘Bring Back the Bay’
October 13, 2009 – Burlington, ON – Employees from The CUMIS Group Limited (CUMIS) traded in their dress shoes for rubber boots to help clean up a two kilometer segment of Grindstone Creek, on October 8, 2009.
This one-day intensive clean-up effort is part of the Bay Area Restoration Council’s (BARC) Adopt-A-Creek program, which CUMIS has invested in for the second year in a row.
“As an environmentally-conscious landowner within the Burlington Bay watershed, this project is a perfect fit for CUMIS,” says Kenn Lalonde, President and CEO, CUMIS. “We are honoured to partner with BARC to help ensure the health and vitality of our community waterways.”
CUMIS volunteers proudly cleared a significant amount of garbage and debris from their adopted stream during yesterday’s restoration efforts.
"Organizations like CUMIS are integral in projects that help to restore the Bay and its watershed as they provide the energy and manpower necessary to get the work done.” says Jim Hudson, Executive Director, BARC. “CUMIS is particularly special to BARC as it was the first corporate group to participate in our Adopt-A-Creek program."
