CUMIS celebrates Canada Day with en masse singing of national anthem

June 27, 2007 – CUMIS employees demonstrated their patriotism today by dressing in red and white and gathering around the flagpole at the organization's head office in Burlington, Ontario to sing ‘O Canada’ en masse – a long-standing CUMIS tradition.

“It’s a privilege to live in this country – and to celebrate Canada Day,” said Kenn Lalonde, president and CEO, The CUMIS Group Limited, as he addressed staff and local dignitaries. “This is a particularly noteworthy Canada Day celebration for CUMIS; not only does 2007 mark Canada’s 140 birthday, it marks our organization’s 70th anniversary. Our roots date back to the first Canadian loan protection contract issued to Dalhousie Industrial Credit Union in 1937. With this, our organization played a key role in the early development of the Canadian credit union movement – and to this day CUMIS continues to play a significant part in the success of credit unions and Canadians across our great country.”

Also in attendance were Burlington MP Mike Wallace, Burlington Mayor Cam Jackson and Burlington Ward 1 Councillor Rick Craven.
